We went for a super laid back rustic barn style wedding with lots of greenery, fairy lights and woodland. We did everything ourselves from the table settings to the favours (my dad brewed us a special batch of wedding ale!) and my mum even made my wedding dress! We wanted the day to be as relaxed and as fun as possible and it certainly was...I wore converse for my wedding shoes and our little dog Toby was our ring bearer - in his kilt!
Any tips for brides to be?
Make sure to take a moment for just you and your new spouse away from the hustle and bustle. Chris and I snuck off to the cottage for a quiet 5 and a cup of tea as the evening band started playing!
There are so many people to chat to and so much going on, it was really nice to have that breather and be able to let it all sink in. We also did a private last dance and I think that's a beautiful tradition. When we went back to collect our things and lock up the next morning, we put on our first dance song and had a last dance just us (and toby) and it was the most perfect way to wrap up our special day together.
What was the most memorable moment?
There are so many! From Toby bringing our rings up the aisle to my dad's incredible speech. Our vows to one another and that first sip of champagne as a married couple! As corny as it sounds, it really was the best day of our lives (so far!) and I'll never forget that feeling.
Tell me a bit about the jewellery you wore?
When we first got together Chris bought me your beautiful moon necklace with my name engraved and I've worn it every day since. I adore it. On our wedding day he bought me a new one, but this time it had our wedding date engraved. It's my most favourite piece of jewellery (apart from my engagement ring of course!) so it only seemed right that I wear it on our wedding day too!
