Cowrie Shell Necklace
The Posh Totty Designs Cowrie Shell Necklace has a modest, simple, organic shape that hides an impressive historic significance. For centuries, the Cowrie shell has been used as a form of currency in Africa, Asia, Latin America. In Nepal and India, it symbolises wealth and womanhood and is used in ceremonies to worship the Goddess Laxmi. The Posh Totty Designs Cowrie Shell Necklace is inspired by a beachcombed tidal Cowrie shell from Tulum, Mexico. Handmade by our jewellers in Brighton in 925 sterling silver, or plated in 18ct rose or yellow gold. A modest, tactile pendant with a valuable history, this unique necklace looks fabulous with other seashell jewellery pieces from the Posh Totty Designs Tidal Seashell jewellery collection.

Text Finish
Black finish gives a bolder, easy to read look, whereas clear finish gives a more subtle look. The 'black finish' is achieved by applying a specialist black paste that leaves the text with black fill. Black finish can fade over time. We suggest that if you want to prolong this finish on your jewellery, it is advisable to not expose it to perfume, chlorine, cosmetics, hand sanitiser and body lotions. Humidity and body oils may also affect the black finish.
If your black finish does fade we offer a jewellery maintenance service, which includes a high shine re-polish and the re-application or removal of black fill if required. Find out more about our Jewellery maintenance services.

18ct Gold plating:
We make our jewellery using the finest quality 925 Sterling Silver. Most of our Silver Jewellery can also be plated with a thick layer (approx 1 micron) of 18ct yellow gold/ 18ct rose gold.
Our gold plated items are compliant with the Assay nickel release test (BS EN 1811:1998 and BS EN 12472) therefore they are suitable for those with nickel allergies.
We advise that gold plating is a finish that can wear away over time. It can be affected by elements such as exposure to water, heat, chlorine and chemicals found in body lotions/ cosmetics/ hand-sanitiser/ perfumes as well as different skin types.
If the plating on your product wears away within the first three months of your purchase we will happily re-plate the item free of charge.
To avoid continual re-plating we recommend that 9ct pure gold is the best option.
