The Posh Totty Designs Cerith Shell Necklace is inspired by the slender, spiralling form of the cerith shell — a delicate coastal gem found along sandy shores and rock pools. Our founder, Alice Rivers-Cripps, created the design following her travels in Mexico and the time spent on the sun-soaked beaches - her self-confessed happy place. This handcrafted pendant is handmade in our coastal workshop and captures the intricate beauty of the natural world in wearable sterling silver.

Elegant, understated and full of character, the Cerith Shell Necklace is made from high-quality recycled sterling silver and is available plated in 18ct yellow or rose gold. What is 18ct gold plating?

Most of our silver jewellery can be plated with a thick layer (approx 1 micron) of 18ct yellow gold or 18ct rose gold.

Is your gold plating nickel allergy safe?

Our gold plated items are compliant with the Assay nickel release test (BS EN 1811:1998 and BS EN 12472) therefore they are suitable for those with nickel allergies.

Is 18ct gold plating permanent?

Gold plating can wear away overtime. This can be sped up by exposure to water, heat and certain chemicals.

If the plating on your product wears away within the first three months of your purchase we will happily re-plate the item free of charge.

How do I clean a sterling silver necklace at home?

The safest way to clean a sterling silver necklace at home is with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth to gently remove dirt and help reduce tarnish.

To clean your necklace:

Create a gentle solution - Mix a few drops of mild washing-up liquid with warm (not hot) water.
Soak and clean - Leave your necklace in the solution for 10–15 minutes, then gently clean with a soft toothbrush or cloth, especially around clasps and fine details.
Rinse and dry - Rinse thoroughly under clean water and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Allow it to air dry completely before wearing or storing.

Sterling silver may naturally develop a light tarnish over time, but this can easily be refreshed with a specialist silver polishing cloth to restore its shine.

Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish or any personalised details.
